EVERY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY STARTING
JULY 2 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2, 2023
The Rediscovered Apennines returns to enrich the summer period with a series of thematic itineraries open to all Reno Valley residents and visitors. The calendar of activities offers a thematic journey into the nature, history and food and wine of the area, as well as the art and music of these places.
Thanks to the eighteen dates on the calendar, every Saturday and Sunday in July, August and early September, tourists can be guided on visits by a certified environmental hiking guide, on walks that can vary in length from half a day to a full day, so as to meet the needs of both visitors and families without special training and more experienced hikers.
Sunday is always dedicated to a walking tour of Porretta Terme, which takes on a different focus from time to time: the Spa and the use of its waters, the churches and shrines, centers of local religious life, ancient history, but also the recent history of the Porretta Soul Festival told through the street art of the Sweet art project.
Saturday’s guided tours take place in the territory of the Upper Reno, within the municipalities of Alto Reno Terme and Lizzano in Belvedere, but not only. The narrative of the Apennines thus sets out on different itineraries, recounting the art of yesterday and today, the art of man and nature. The protagonists are the stories and traditions of these places, but also ancient and recent art: from painters, artisans stonemasons and masters comacini, skilled in sculpture and the use of stone, who have left a deep imprint on the whole valley. The gastronomic culture of the territories traversed can be rediscovered in the chestnut farming still practiced today, with the chestnut groves, dryers, and the solid structure of the ancient mills still visited today. Local eno-gastronomic productions tell of ancient traditions still present thanks to visits to producers, farms, bakeries and breweries. However, nature is the real protagonist, with woods and forests, streams, waterfalls and breathtaking views: a very rich biodiversity, characterized by a great diversification of habitats and therefore flora and fauna of great ecological importance. An extraordinary nature, to be discovered one step at a time by ploughing the paths of this territory.
